The team works to stop the assassination but ultimately fail in the first part of their plan. They decide to instead kidnap Sousa and have Coulson pose as him. Coulson is then shot and falls into the water, giving the impression of a dead Sousa to preserve the timeline. Coulson then is fixed by Simmons and can now talk and see normally. Sousa now joins the team on their mission. Meanwhile, Freddy Malick, now the head of HYDRA now joins forced with Luke.

The team jumps to 1973 and reunite with Enoch, they go to Koenig's speakeasy. They find it is now a bar that S.H.I.E.L.D. agents stay at as well as HYDRA agents who are inside S.H.I.E.L.D. Johnson and Sousa infiltrate a room and find a list of targets for Project Insight. This is a project that HYDRA used in the future, but the Chronicoms are now utilizing it earlier. Sousa and Johnson are then kidnapped by Freddy Malick's son Nathaniel Malick. The team also find out that Malick is still alive despite dying a few years earlier in real time. May tells Mackenzie that she can't sense any emotions from them, the parents reveal themselves and Chronicoms his real parents are dead. Mackenzie is forced to kill them.

Meanwhile, Sousa and Johnson wake up shackled to a wall in a barn. Nathaniel Malick comes in and explains how he wants to extract Johnson's powers which is just like Daniel Whitehall did to Johnson's mother, he then experiments on Johnson. The experiments are successful, but Malick crumples as he is not used to the powers. Sousa breaks the injured Johnson out and they get back to the Zephyr. Johnson is put in a Healing Pod and Sousa decides to stay next to her. The Zephyr then jumps. When they land, an angry and mourning Mackenzie drives off and Shaw follows him. The Zephyr then makes an unexpected jump, stranding Shaw and Mackenzie in 1982.

Sibyl - AOS707 - 455879

Deke Shaw is attacked by Sibyl-Bots

Mackenzie turns around to find the Zephyr jumping away. He then drives off and visits his parents graves. Sibyl works with Russell Feldman to make herself a new body. Mackenzie goes through many months of depression while Shaw tries to help him but can't reach his friend. Shaw instead builds his own faction of S.H.I.E.L.D. over this time, they pose as a band called the Deke Squad where Shaw copies music that hasn't come out yet. Shaw tricks Mackenzie into coming out so he can show him his project. He also shows Mackenzie that Coulson's mind lived on from the explosion and he is now a TV. Mackenzie is not impressed, but after some talking, joins him. A few months later, Sibyl makes her move, sending many Sibyl-Bots to the base and killing a band member, but she is stopped by Shaw and Mackenzie. More months later, the Zephyr lands in this time. They send out May and Rodriguez to find Mackenzie and Shaw, they do and they are reunited. Coulson is built a new body as well.

The Zephyr starts malfunctioning and makes sudden jumps unannounced. Simmons fears they could just jump out of existence. Rodriguez and May get the idea of going to the Afterlife to help Rodriguez get her power pack. When they arrive they see a girl running away from a man named Li. They see Gordon and Jiaying who tries to help them. Throughout the process they realize that the girl, named Kora is trouble. They talk to Jiaying about her and she refers to Kora as her daughter, revealing Johnson had a sister. The process is unsuccessful and the duo returns to the Zephyr. Meanwhile, Kora runs out of Afterlife and puts a gun to her throat, before she pulls the trigger, however, she is met by Nathaniel Malick who offers her purpose. On the Zephyr, it continuously jumps, Rodriguez realizes the problem is that she doesn't have to bounce back every time, she runs and takes the time drive out, saving them. However, it doesn't work and it jumps again.

Coulson and Quake comfort Enoch

Enoch sacrifices himself

Johnson wakes up from the healing pod to see a sleeping Sousa next to her. She sneaks out and finds the team in panic mode. She looks out the window and sees a wormhole. A sequence of events happen and she is then transported back to the healing pod. Confused, she goes to Coulson and wakes him up. Coulson tells her they are in a time loop and they are the inly one's who know. Every time Johnson dies she forgets. She realizes that each jump, they grow closer and closer to the vortex and eventually death. The duo try many things to no success, in one of these loops, Johnson kisses Sousa. They get the idea of taking out Simmons memory blocker to reveal what to do. They try to do that but Simmons dies. In the next loop, Johnson goes with her and they both die. After Johnson gets caught up, they realize someone is killing them. After searching they find out it is Enoch who was programmed by Simmons herself to not let the memory chip be removed. They stall Enoch and get the chip out, Simmons tells them Enoch is the key to stop the looping, but it requires him to take out his heart. They talk to Enoch who removes his heart without any thought. Simmons uses it to jump them out while Johnson and Coulson stay with Enoch for his last moments. He says that this will be the team's last mission together and remarks how Fitz was his best friend.

Nathaniel Malick, who is now working with Sibyl, trains Kora on her power of energy manipulation and then goes to recruit future HYDRA member, John Garrett. Jiaying and Gordon jump to the Lighthouse and say that Malick has attacked. Malick has Kora kills Li for all of the horrible things he has done to her. Gordon jumps Coulson to Afterlife, but Malick greets them because Sibyl had predicted it. Garrett steals Gordon's powers which kills Gordon. Garrett then teleports Malick to the Lighthouse to get Simmons so she could tell him where Fitz is as he is the only person stopping the Chronicoms. Malick battles Johnson and kills Jiaying. Garrett then kidnaps Simmons on the quinjet, unknowing that Shaw is also on the quinjet.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

Leo Fitz returns

Malick searches Simmons' mind but is unable to find answers, his forcing eventually makes Simmons forget who Fitz actually is. Johnson decides she has to be unpredictable, her, Mackenzie, and Sousa go to save Simmons. Johnson and Sousa share a kiss before going out. Johnson saves Simmons and Shaw and has a brief battle with her sister, Kora and she is taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. They return to the Lighthouse to find that the Chronicoms have destroyed all of the S.H.I.E.L.D. bases which eliminates S.H.I.E.L.D. once and for all. However, the lasers are unable to penetrate the fortified Lighthouse, so Garrett is sent to blow it up from the inside. Coulson times it perfectly and stops him. They force Garrett to deactivate the bombs, but he can't so they have him jump them to some coordinates they got. When they arrive, they find the rest of the team and remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Garrett is shot and killed by a young Victoria Hand. It is revealed by the agents that they all were tasked with holding in to various machinery by a man named Enoch over the years. Simmons who's mind is still jumbled vaguely remembers these parts and creates a machine. When turning it on, a time travel opening appears and Fitz drops down.

The Ultimate Quake

Quake kills the Chronicoms

After reuniting with Fitz, he explains the time travel saying they got transferred to an alternate universe and have to go back. However, someone would have to stay behind to press the button to send them back. Shaw decides it is him. They say their final goodbyes and Shaw pushes the button, leaving all of his friends. The remaining agents ask Shaw if he is their new director to which he responds with a quick "yes." The team and Chronicom vessels are sent in the future back to where they jumped, 2019, right after the battle with Izel. Fitz reminds Simmons of how they lived many years together since it didn't matter how long they took to build all of the components. In order to maintain the loop, the part of the team goes down in blue hazmat suits to retrieve a piece of the monolith and help their past selves. While May, Coulson, Johnson, Mackenzie, and Kora go to the Vessels to stop the Chronicoms. The hunters attack the agents on the ground but are stopped by the power of May and Kora to send a beacon giving them empathy and changing their minds to help he agents. Coulson then talks with Sibyl, Coulson reveals their plan and Sibyl asks what happens next to where May falls on top of her from the ceiling as says, "The Cavalry." Johnson engages Malick and they fight. Quake powers against Quake powers. Malick exclaims that he is more powerful and there's no way to beat him without flying. Johnson says that's the idea and sets of a bigger quake that destroys the whole vessel, killing Malick, Sibyl, all of the Chronicoms and herself. The team retrieves Johnson's body and Kora resurrects her using her powers. On the ground, Fitz-Simmons run over to a containment module and open it up, revealing their daughter, Alya Fitz. Simmons hugs her as she finally remembers.

Simmons Ending

Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz finally live a life

One year later, the team reunites in a virtual meeting. Rodriguez says she has to leave and turns off the call. She is greeted by Piper and an LMD James Davis who are bringing her to a mission, she then superspeeds out of the car. Fitz leaves shortly followed by Simmons. When Simmons turns it off she turns around smiling at the sight of Fitz and their daughter playing. Mackenzie leaves next, when awakening he looks out into the sky while standing on a Helicarrier. When May turns off, she is greeted by Flint who reminds her that she has to teach a class. She then leaves to go and walks under a passageway titled, "Coulson Academy." This leaves Johnson and Coulson. After a goodbye, Coulson leaves, Johnson looks at the empty room then turns her call off. She is greeted by her boyfriend Sousa and they both look out onto the stars in space along with Kora. Coulson awakes from the call and opens a package from Mackenzie. Inside are keys, he hits the button and hears a car beep. He smiles as her gets into L.O.L.A., revealing that Mackenzie made some upgrades, and he drives away.
