The Ambush on Oakland Centipede Base was a raid on a Centipede Project laboratory in Oakland, California by Phil Coulson and his team.

Agent Phil Coulson's team identified one of the Centipede Soldiers that broke out Edison Po out of Havenworth Federal Penitentiary as Brian Hayward. Using Hayward's sister Laura to track his location, the team was able to discover a laboratory in Oakland, California.[2]

Agents Phil Coulson, Michael Peterson, Melinda May and Grant Ward led an attack on the facility, not knowing that three Centipede Soldiers were in cargo bins waiting to strike. They were deployed to attack the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, throwing May into a cargo bin. Coulson fired the Night-Night Gun at Brian Hayward and did no damage to the soldier.

Hayward got up and threw Coulson into a cargo bin; May got up and Ward took a punch as all the S.H.I.E.L.D agents were downed. Peterson got stabbed by a metal bar causing him severe damage, but despite the injury, he managed to subdue Hayward. Meanwhile, May also took another Centipede soldier down, but he managed to escape with another soldier. Before being interrogated, Hayward was killed by Raina and Edison Po using his Backscatter X-Ray Eye Implant.[2]

Raina and Edison Po found out that Michael Peterson was a S.H.I.E.L.D agent and kidnapped his son, Ace Peterson. Coulson's Team discovered that Akela Amador was a member of Centipede Project. Eventually, Mike managed to get his son back while Phil Coulson was taken hostage by Centipede. However, when Peterson tried to get Coulson back, he was caught in an explosion and was also taken away.[2]
