"Do not underestimate me! Kill Luke Cage. Kill Jessica Jones. And the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, whoever he is. I'm so happy you're all on board with the plan. But let me remind you, I neutralized our enemies. I brought you the Iron Fist. I was able to keep the most important operation in our history running while you succumbed to chaos and conflict. I have proven myself to be the one and only true leader–"

Ashes, Ashes is the sixth episode of the first season of The Defenders.

Synopsis

Stick offers up a theory, Danny finds himself sidelined, and Alexandra learns that it's not easy being the leader.

Plot

Alexandra Reid sits in her room, listening to classical music on her phonograph. The trance, however, is distrupted by a scratch on the record, prompting Reid to stop the instrument.

Meanwhile, the Defenders conversed over Sowande's final words, about how the Hand wished to have the Iron Fist with them. Though Rand protested that they only wanted to divide them, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Matt Murdock agreed that turning him over would be the best decision.
