Baffin Island is an island in Canada.
During the late 8th to late 11th centuries, the Vikings raided and traded from their Scandinavian homelands across wide areas of northern and central Europe, even reaching the other side of the Atlantic Ocean and arriving to Greenland and Baffin Island in Canada.
In the 21st century, Phil Coulson and his team consulted Elliot Randolph, one of the leading experts in Norse mythology, to learn about the possible location of the pieces of the Berserker Staff after one of them was obtained in Norway by the leaders of a group of Norse Paganists
Randolph suggested searching Viking routes, pointing the investigation toward recent discoveries of interesting artifacts at Baffin Island, misleading S.H.I.E.L.D. as Randolph himself was the Asgardian who hid the staff centuries before.
S.H.I.E.L.D. sent a team to Baffin Island in Canada, but they were unable to find any artifact of Asgardian origin, informing Coulson, who ordered his team to continue the search in other places related to Viking raid routes.
- Besides Mount Thor, other mounts in Baffin Island are named after topics in Norse mythology, such as Mount Odin and Mount Asgard.
