After successfully stabilizing the Centipede Serum and its effects on its subjects, the Centipede Project created a handful of Centipede-enhanced Super Soldiers as a trial run for their long-term plans. One of the soldiers' first actions was to break one of the project's key assets: Edison Po, out of Havenworth Federal Penitentiary. Later S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson and his team led an ambush on Project Centipede's base in Oakland after which most of the defeated Centipede Soldiers were terminated by kill switches in their Eye Implants.
Project Centipede used another small group of Centipede Soldiers as guards at a base in the Mojave Desert where they were attempting to uncover the buried memories of the captured Phil Coulson. After Coulson's team took out the base and rescued Coulson, the soldiers were captured and, without regular Centipede Serum injections, were eventually depowered and freed from their eye implant kill switches.
Months later, after a demonstration by Deathlok, Project Centipede's most successful Super Soldier test subject, Ian Quinn traveled to Washington, D.C. to speak with General Jacobs and Admiral Jolnes about selling a thousand of their Super Soldiers to the US government as the highest bidder.
A group of Centipede-enhanced soldiers, led by HYDRA Agent Kaminsky, attacked Coulson's team when the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents infiltrated the Barbershop Headquarters in Havana, Cuba after other members of the Centipede Project abandoned it. They were defeated when Melinda May used the Berserker Staff to collapse the building.
During S.H.I.E.L.D.'s assault on the Cybertek facility where the Centipede Soldiers and Deathlok Soldiers were to be produced, Coulson's Team, with the aid of United States Marines, were able to confiscate the facility and the machines before mass-production could begin.
