- "Oh, that's Charles Spencer by the way. He's a great kid. Computer engineering degree, 3.6 GPA. Had a floor-level gig at Intel planned for the fall. But first he wanted to put a few miles on his soul before he parked it behind a desk. See the world, maybe be of service."
- ―Tony Stark
Charles "Charlie" Spencer was an American citizen and an early-stage engineer who was killed in the Battle of Sokovia.
Spencer was raised by his mother Miriam, a member of the State Department. After getting a degree in computer engineering, he decided to spend his summer in Sokovia and help build sustainable housing for the poor.
Eventually, Spencer started working in the capital city of Novi Grad and witnessed the Avengers fight the rogue artificial intelligence Ultron, who used a vibranium-based technology to lift a large section of the city skyward. During the conflict, Spencer was crushed to death by rubble from a collapsing building.
His death caused his mother to confront Tony Stark about their actions without restrictions, leading him to agree with the Sokovia Accords as Stark came to believe they would be no better than villains if they did not exercise or have restraints.
