In 1868, Victor Timely lived in Chicago, where he worked as a candlemaker.[1]

Great Chicago Fire[]

In 1871, the Great Chicago Fire occurred, which burned a large majority of the city.[1]

Chicago World's Fair[]

In 1893, Chicago hosted the first World's Columbian Exposition, also known as the Chicago World's Fair.[1]

Once Steve Rogers was chosen as the new face of America during World War II, due to his heroic persecution of Heinz Kruger in the streets of New York City, the event became a front page in the newspapers, and Senator Brandt realized he had potential as a patriotic symbol to boost American morale, and promote the purchasing of War Bonds. Rogers joined the USO and began touring the nation in a colorful costume as Captain America, Chicago being one of the many cities visited.[2]

Chicago was also among the cities that HYDRA planned to bomb with their Parasits during Red Skull's attack on the United States.[2]

Zodiac Virus[]

A terrorist cell run by Baker infiltrated the Willis Tower in Chicago, disguised as a cleaning crew, with the intention of launching a terrorist attack on the city using the Zodiac virus. However, Baker's group were soon confronted by a S.H.I.E.L.D. team, led by Captain America and Brock Rumlow, as they defeated Baker's group, with Black Widow taking the Zodiac from Baker, although he was able to escape.[3]

Alexander Pierce used different examples to justify his actions regarding the approval of Project Insight for HYDRA in order to stop disorder, chaos and war all over the world. One of his examples was that it was a matter of time that an EMP fried the electrical systems in a city like Chicago.[4]

While the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents was enjoying a meal in Rae's Restaurant in Chicago following their victory over Aida, Enoch led a team of hired operatives to kidnap all the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents except Leo Fitz, using a stasis device to freeze everyone. When Fitz regained consciousness, all his friends were gone and he was soon arrested by United States Air Force soldiers led by Evans and Lucas.[5]

8-Graviton Absorbs Gravitonium

Glenn Talbot begins extracting Gravitonium

Glenn Talbot, through the use of the Inhuman Robin Hinton, discovered a deposit of Gravitonium buried beneath the city. Therefore, he dragged the remnants of Qovas' Ship into the city, damaging and destroying several buildings. Talbot then began the process of extracting the Gravitonium, causing pieces of the ground to ascend then fall back down when finished extracting the substance. Reports began to come out of the city, causing S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Zephyr One to show up and fight Talbot.

They assisted Chicago Police Department in the evacuation of civilians while Quake engaged Talbot, ending the fight by enhancing herself with the Centipede Serum and quaking Talbot into space. With Talbot defeated, both the city and Earth were saved, although Leo Fitz died in Chicago due to the collapse of a building.[6]

Flag Smashers' Political Ultimatum[]

Following the Blip, the Global Repatriation Council set up a refugee camp in Chicago. In 2024, the Flag Smashers targeted that camp on their campaign.[7]

Stoss Residence[]

Losing all faith in humanity, Phastos, a member of the Eternals, traveled the Earth, eventually meeting Ben Stoss, who would later become his husband. They settled down in Chicago and had a son named Jack. They lived in their small house until in 2024, they were visited by Sersi and Ikaris. After that, they relocated to another house in South Dakota.[8]

In an alternate reality, Obadiah Stane had pizza shipped from Chicago to Malibu to discuss his and Tony Stark's disagreements over the direction of Stark Industries.[9]

Filmed USO Show[]

In an alternate universe, Steve Rogers performed his USO show in Chicago, where the show was filmed. He watched himself that night and started to believe in the importance of the USO shows.[10]

Destruction of Earth[]

"By all accounts, the city had been evacuated. No one there. After Quake walked in, 12.8 on the Richter scale, and the world cracked like an egg."

In an alternate timeline, the city of Chicago became ground zero in the Destruction of Earth when Glenn Talbot absorbed Quake's powers and cracked the Earth in half.[11]
