"I told you that I will get you the money."
"Such a small sum is of little interest to my employer. Your position, however, that's something we can work with."
―Clyde Farnum and James Wesley[src]

Clyde Farnum was a police officer ordered by James Wesley and his employer to kill murder suspect Karen Page.

Biography

Family Life and Career

Clyde Farnum had a daughter named Tracy who was in college. They had a close relationship as the two would attend movies together when she visited from school.

Farnum, though he was an officer of the New York City Police Department, got into debt with the criminal, Don Rigoletto for over twenty-six thousand dollars. [1]

Park Lunch

Farnum was eating lunch in a park when James Wesley approached him and sat beside him; Farnum was annoyed because he wanted to be alone. Wesley showed Farnum a live video feed of his daughter, Tracy on a college campus, unaware she was being watched by a hitman. Farnum thought that Wesley was extorting him for Don Rigoletto until he was told that Rigoletto had retired and transferred the debt to a new lender. Wesley said that the debt would be forgiven and Tracy spared if Farnum cooperated with him.[1]

An Extorted Cleaner

Former Union Allied Construction employee Karen Page, who had discovered a money laundering scheme orchestrated by company leaders, shared the information with her co-worker, Daniel Fisher. At a bar, while they were discussing what Page had found, the two were drugged with spiked drinks and Fisher was murdered. Fisher's corpse and the unconscious Page were dumped in the latter's apartment, framing her for the murder when the police arrived. This was orchestrated by Wesley's employer Wilson Fisk who was a key player in the Union Allied scandal. With one liability liquidated, all Fisk needed to do to plug the leak was to kill Page, the initial whistle blower. As she was incarcerated at the 15th Precinct Police Station, Fisk needed an inside man to do the job. With his daughter Tracy's life under threat, Farnum tried to act as a cleaner, attempting to strangle Page and make it look like a suicide. The apologetic Farnum wrapped a bed sheet around her throat, but was unable to kill her as she scratched at his eyes and called out for help. In the aftermath of the attempted hit, Farnum was arrested and Page's lawyers Matthew Murdock and Foggy Nelson were brought in to discuss the event with officers.[1]

Murder

The next morning, Farnum's daughter Tracy found his body as she was doing laundry; Farnum had a discharged gun in his hand.[1]
