"I was nobody. Nothing. They made me power incarnate."
―Living Laser[src]

Arthur Parks, also known as Living Laser, was an enemy of Iron Man.

Biography[]

Arthur Parks desired great power and allowed A.I.M. to experiment on him. He became a being of pure power, but later wished to return to a physical body. He partnered with M.O.D.O.K. and Ezekiel Stane when they promised to give him a new human body.

Parks was sent to New York City to recover the remaining Extremis from Stark Tower. He encountered Iron Man and warned him to stay out of his way or he would destroy him. Stark offered to help return him to normal if he surrendered. Parks refused and the two battled. Stark won, but Parks declared that he had gotten what he came for and left. J.A.R.V.I.S. informed Stark that Parks had transmitted a portion of his consciousness into his fibre-optic network during their battle and had gotten enough Extremis to stabilize A.I.M.'s subjects.

Parks confronted Stark again and confessed that the money A.I.M. were paying him was a means to an end; Stark was right about him wanting to return to a physical body and he needed to follow Stane's orders if he was to achieve this, and in his desperation he declared that he would let nothing stop him from doing this. Stark offered to help him again on the condition that he give himself up to the authorities. They fought and Parks was once again defeated. Stark later discovered that Parks had left a trojan horse in his network, allowing him to hijack it.

Parks aided M.O.D.O.K. in uploading his consciousness into Stark Industries' system and led Stark to China to distract him while Stane captured Pepper Potts. Stane informed Parks that if he had Stark's body he would be able to transfer Parks' consciousness into it, so Parks attacked Stark with the intention of killing him. Parks vanished upon being defeated by Stark, with Stark remarking that with his luck he had probably not seen the last of him.[1]
