In 2008, Ahmed and his agents managed to track down Eva Belyakov to Manama and waited for S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Phil Coulson, Melinda May and Hart to arrive. Ahmed briefed them on the situation, informing them that, if they failed to bring Belyakov in, the Bahrain military would move in. An attempt to negotiate with Eva quickly failed when Katya Belyakov used her power to enthrall a group of mercenaries, resulting in the start of carnage. Upon entering and seeing one of the mercenaries holding Katya as a hostage, Ahmed tried to negotiate with them by speaking in their language. Instead, the leader of the mercenaries lifted his gun higher and shot Ahmed directly in the left side of his chest, forcing Coulson and Hart to rush over to check on him.[1]
