"Oh my god, is that a Hand-Held Hypno-Beam? "
Phil Coulson[src]

The Hand-Held Hypno Beam is one of Antoine Triplett's grandfather's Howling Commando items, a device used to hypnotize individuals concealed as a hair dryer.

History[]

"One of the original betas. See how it has the switch on the bottom?"
"The production models moved it to the side. This is amazing."
Antoine Triplett and Phil Coulson[src]

By the 1940s, the Hand-Held Hypno Beam was in development, with one of the original prototypes of the device being acquired by a member of the Howling Commandos. Production models of the Hypno Beam would move its activation switch to the side, whereas the original designs had it situated on the bottom. The Hypno-Beam, along with other Howling Commando gear, would eventually fall into the hands of a Howling Commando's daughter, Mrs. Triplett.

In 2014, Antoine Triplett, daughter of Mrs. Triplett, retrieved his grandfather's Howling Commando gear and offered it to Phil Coulson as a tactical advantage during the undercover investigation on Cybertek and the missions to come. The Hypno Beam was among these items. As Coulson, a collector of vintage items, was introducing the gear to his team, he was amazed that there was an original Hand-Held Hypno Beam among them. Coulson and Triplett both noted that the specifications had changed over the years, mentioning that the switch on the bottom had been moved to the side.[1]

Trivia[]

  • In the comics, the Hand-held Hypno Beam is an item used by Nick Fury.[2]
