"We're going to do important things together."
―Miklos Kozlov to Will Simpson[src]

Doctor Miklos Kozlov was a scientist and a member of IGH, who was responsible for creating Combat Enhancers, which had been used by Will Simpson and others to increase their strength. When Jessica Jones had begun looking into IGH's actions, Kozlov was then murdered by Alisa Jones who was attempting to ensure that Karl Malus' work with their projects was protected, as his death was blamed on a car accident.

Biography[]

Work with IGH[]

Research with Karl Malus[]

"I didn't want anyone dead, even Kozlov, opportunistic prick stole my formulas to develop drugs for the military."
Karl Malus to Jessica Jones[src]

Miklos Kozlov was one of the key doctors for IGH, a genetic technology clinic that worked with altering a person's cells to develop a patient's healing process. Among IGH's first patients were Alisa and Jessica Jones, who had been involved in a car accident. As Jessica had been less injured, she was able to be released relatively swiftly, while Alisa's condition required a lot more work from Karl Malus. They discovered that their work had caused Alisa and Jessica to develop enhanced strength, although Alisa's rage became almost uncontrollable.

This was proven when Alisa broke free, killed Luanne McClure on her way out and then murdered Stirling Adams to protect Jessica. Although Leslie Hansen suggested they call Kozlov, Malus refused, and decided to continue working with Alisa.[2] Eventually, Kozlov saw the potential with the work that Malus had developed, as he decided to steal the formulas for himself and develop drugs, such as the Combat Enhancers for the United States Armed Forces, as he saw how Alisa and Jessica's strength, speed and healing had been improved by Malus' work.[3]

Testing Combat Enhancers[]

Used on test subjects including Will Simpson, the Combat Enhancers were designed to increase the user's strength and pain resistance; however, after a mission in Damascus, Simpson was forced to resign from the program and Kozlov put in a new protocol to protect his agents from undergoing a similar loss of control that Simpson had experienced.[4] Following a military incident, six soldiers were brought into Kozlov's care, including Isaiah, and through Kozlov's work with them, they were able to heal their injuries, with Isaiah regarding Kozlov as a hero.[1]

Will Simpson's Return[]

"You're responding well to the meds."
"Feels good, like old times. Give me a red."
"You had a red this morning, we altered protocol after what happened in Damascus."
―Miklos Kozlov and Will Simpson[src]

Kozlov was contacted by Will Simpson when he was injured in an explosion while tracking a terrorist called Kilgrave. Kozlov came to Simpson's aid and found him alongside his lover Trish Walker, who had brought him to the hospital. Simpson informed Kozlov that he wished to get back into IGH and Kozlov allowed him to take the Combat Enhancers, saving his life. Once Simpson was stable, Kozlov welcomed him back to IGH and informed him of the new protocol, promising that they would do great things together.[4]

Shortly after being given access to the drugs, however, Simpson went AWOL, stealing many Combat Enhancers for himself. Seeking to bring Simpson back, Kozlov sent McManus to find Simpson and bring him back. However, Simpson, once again struggling to maintain his sanity on the drugs, murdered McManus and went on the run, seeking to find and assassinate Kilgrave. Eventually Kozlov's men discovered Simpson in the Alias Investigations Office, where he had been defeated by Jessica Jones and Trish Walker, Kozlov and his men then took Simpson into custody.[5]

Death and Legacy[]

"Just like whoever caused his freak accident. Oh, so we agree it wasn't an accident. I'm guessing one of his beasties got out and it's pissed."
"It wasn't some animal."
Jessica Jones and Isaiah[src]

In 2017, Alisa Jones assaulted the doctor while driving, so that Kozlov was killed by Jones, in order to erase the clues about the existence of IGH. Many believed it was a car accident when it was actually a murder.[1]

  • Master Physician: Kozlov had developed some experience in medical aid; his method, however, often linked with IGH's research and experiments in Combat Enhancers drugs and their effects on subjects like Jessica Jones and Will Simpson.
