The Art of The Avengers is the official artbook of The Avengers. The book will receive a reissue as part of the Infinity Saga series on June 25, 2024.[1]

Synopsis[]

This keepsake volume is an experiential journey through the entire film from beginning to end - featuring stunning concept art; full-color photographs from the set, as well as the finished film; excerpts from the script; and exclusive interviews with the cast and crew, including writer/director Joss Whedon, producer Kevin Feige and, of course, the Avengers themselves. From costume and production design to visual effects and creature creation, THE ART OF THE AVENGERS is a lavish showcase of all the artistry and creativity that brings the Marvel Cinematic Universe to life onscreen. The book comes in slipcover which features a wrapped around variation of the final theatrical movie poster for the The Avengers but includes S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill and Captain America wearing his cowl and in a different position. A single piece of concept art that depicts the fully assembled Avengers covers both the front and back covers of the book.

At the beginning of the book is an Introduction by concept artists Ryan Meinerding and Charlie Wen followed by a Prolog which details the progress of the films leading up to the Avengers. Next is a foldout timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe chronicling the events of the films leading up to the formation of the Avengers.

Three chapters labeled as Act One, Act Two and Act Three follow with concept art for characters, items, locations and events shown in the order as they appear in the film. The last section titled Some Assembly Required features various advertisements, merchandise and concept art for the Phase One films from various comic conventions along with the various Movie posters for The Avengers.

At the end of the book are bios for Contributors, a list of acknowledgments for those who helped create the book and credits for the concept artists.

  • Thanos is not mentioned at all in the book and no concept art for the character is shown. Only a piece of concept art showing the The Other kneeling before Thanos' throne is presented.
