"Councilwoman Dillard, can you comment on the arrest of your cousin, Cornell Stokes, at Harlem's Paradise tonight, on charges of police corruption, extortion and murder? Is it true that he's responsible for the murder of decorated Harlem police detective Rafael Scarfe?"
―Thembi Wallace to Mariah Dillard[src]

Thembi Wallace is a reporter for WJBP-TV.

Biography[]

WJBP-TV Reporter[]

Interviewing Mariah Dillard[]

"Are there any topics you want to focus on?"
"Well, Harlem. How to shape it, how to elevate it, and how my complexes will help–"
"Boring. We've heard that speech from you a million times and a half."
―Thembi Wallace and Mariah Dillard[src]

Wallace was hired to interview Mariah Dillard. Before the interview, she asked Dillard if there were any topics she would like to focus on. They then went live and Wallace put up a phone number on the screen. She complimented Dillard's house then started talking politics. Wallace then played the interview back in between breaks. When they went live again, Wallace asked Dillard which Harlem she wants, which confused Dillard. Wallace then twisted the interview and showed the Stokes Crime Family. Wallace then called Dillard out on having millions of dollars in her own office in Crispus Attucks Complex, but it didn't make the news. Dillard responded with an insult on Wallace for "twisting the news" for a story. Dillard then shut down the interview. Later, Wallace barged into her house again and asked for a comment of the Arrest of Cottonmouth. However, Alex Wesley ushered her out.[1]

Luke Cage Controversy[]

Wallace reported outside Harlem's Paradise as she believed Luke Cage was holding people hostage. Later, she reported at how some hostages were being let free.[2] The next day, Wallace reported that Cage had escaped custody after being arrested. Soon, people who believed Cage was innocent started wearing hoodies with bullet holes in them to show support. Wallace reported on the news.[3] Later, a fight ensued with Cage and Diamondback. Wallace interviewed Mariah Dillard who spoke about the situation.[4]

Reporting on Danny Rand[]

"Daniel Rand's miraculous return to Rand Enterprises is making headlines once again after a video where he apologizes for a corporate scandal puts the fate of the company at stake. A spokesperson for the class action suit claimed that Rand Enterprises callously turned a blind eye when it was brought to their attention that a chemical plant may have been responsible for fifteen cases of cancer in a Staten Island neighborhood, endangering the lives of innocent children."
―Thembi Wallace[src]

Wallace reported on how Danny Rand promised to make things right after a Rand Enterprises power plant allegedly caused cancer in the area surrounding it.[5] A little later, Wallace reported on the news that Rand was wanted by the DEA.[6]

Reporting on Trish Walker[]

"Mrs. Walker, Thembi Wallace, WJBP News. Is it true Trish Walker's been admitted to the hospital?"
"Can you confirm reports that she's had a relapse?"
―Thembi Wallace and Dorothy Walker[src]

Hearing that Trish Walker was in the hospital for relapsing, Wallace found Dorothy Walker outside the hospital. Dorothy told everyone to pray for her Patsy.[7]

Reporting on Bushmaster[]

"And now, a WJBP breaking news update. Tonight, a grisly discovery at Harlem's Shirley Chisholm Complex turned a ribbon-cutting celebration into a macabre nightmare. A warning: The visuals you are about to see are deeply disturbing. Three severed heads were placed at the complex, owned by former councilwoman Mariah Dillard. And with emerging reports of an armed attack at a party thrown by Harlem-based Wall Street impresario Raymond "Piranha" Jones and Mexican Cartel-level violence, one wonders if there are more ominous events ahead."
―Thembi Wallace[src]

Wallace reported on some scary footage outside of Shirley Chisholm Complex. She warned viewers before showing the scene of three decapitated heads on top of posts. She called in "Mexican Cartel-level violence" and claimed that Piranha Jones was also involved in an ongoing manhunt.[8]

Research Facility Attack[]

"No one from Rand will comment on why the skirmish happened, if anything was stolen, or what Luke Cage's rumored involvement was. The police continue to search for McIver, also known as Bushmaster, who escaped police custody three days ago after setting off an explosive device inside a police armored van. Three officers were severely injured in the blast, but McIver's body was never recovered."
―Thembi Wallace[src]

Wallace then reported on the Attack on Rand Enterprises Research Facility, following it up by saying Bushmaster broke out of police custody and was still missing three days later.[9]

War for Harlem[]

"Hell has returned to Harlem. Violent crime has increased 75% since the arraignment of former councilwoman turned criminal godmother Mariah Dillard Stokes. Police and emergency response times have increased to all-time highs."
―Thembi Wallace[src]

Following Mariah Dillard's arrest, Wallace reported on the steep increase in crime. Police had upped their game in response to report faster.[10]

Gregory Sallinger's Situation[]

"Thembi, like any good citizen, I am hoping to help the police in their investigation."
"Maybe because I give a shit."
"We're live. Please watch your language."
Trish Walker, Jessica Jones and Thembi Wallace[src]

Wallace reported on the scene at a precinct in Hell's Kitchen. She reported as Gregory Sallinger was released from prison, stating that Jessica Jones accused him of murder. He then claimed there to be another Female Vigilante that hid behind a mask. Sallinger soon saw Jones in the crowd and pointed her out, causing Wallace and the others to chase her.[11]

Later, Wallace was begged by Dorothy Walker to interview Jones. Wallace agreed and found herself at odds with Jones, who kept calling Sallinger a murderer, but Wallace had to keep saying alleged. Wallace asked questions about why Jones was doing this and Jones responded rudely with a swear, prompting Wallace to tell her they were live so she should not swear. Jones soon walked out, so Dorothy told the camera and audience to call Alias Investigations for any problems.[12]

Personality[]

"Despite these unwarranted attacks on my character, I have always tried to make clear what I want which I can't say for you, Thembi. It's very clear what you and the rest of your media friends want. You want a story. Not the news. Not the truth. Just a story that you will do anything to sell."
