Griot is an artificial intelligence created by Shuri.
History[]
Creation[]
Griot was created by Shuri for help around the lab. However, Ramonda never fully trusted Griot, believing that AI like him would one day kill everyone.[1]
Battle of Mount Bashenga[]

Griot guides Everett Ross
In 2016, Griot guided Everett Ross as he pursued three jets that Erik Killmonger had sent to attack New York City, London, and Hong Kong. He alerted Ross when Shuri's Lab was being attacked by an enemy jet and kept him updated on the integrity of the lab's protective glass as the jet fired upon it.[2]
Attempted Recreation of the Herb[]
In 2024, T'Challa fell ill and was near death. Shuri worked hard to recreate the Heart-Shaped Herb to save him, but kept coming up unsuccessful. She tried many solutions, but Griot kept coming up with a bad chance of success. T'Challa soon died.[1]
Assisting in New Technology[]
A year later, Shuri became very involved in her work as she was having trouble grieving with T'Challa. Griot helped her as she created the Midnight Angel Armor. Ramonda then arrived, which Griot detected. He tried to tell Shuri, who ignored him. When Ramonda arrived, Griot said that was what he was trying to say. Ramonda then told Shuri that Griot was going to try to take over the world. Shuri simply said that only happened in movies.[1]
Chase of Riri Williams[]
In Cambridge, Massachusetts, Griot informed Shuri, Okoye, and Riri Williams that the FBI and Cambridge Police Department had arrived at their location. After being connected to Williams' car, Shuri told him to put on autopilot and drive Okoye. Griot followed her commands and tailed Williams. Okoye then got mad, threatening Griot that she would harm him if he did not give her control. Griot reluctantly complied. Griot then reported on many sightings, such as a drone above Shuri. He then told Ironheart how much oxygen she had as she climbed up in altitude. When the Talokanil attacked the group in an attempt to kill Williams, Shuri used Griot to interpret between her and Namora and Attuma, convincing them to bring her and Williams to Namor instead.[1]
Assisting the Queen[]
After Shuri was captured by the Talokanil, Ramonda entered her lab and called on Griot, who soon appeared. Ramonda asked Griot if he was with Shuri when she was taken, to which Griot confirmed. Ramonda asked Griot to try to track Shuri's Kimoyo Beads, with Griot locating them in the possession of Everett Ross, whom Griot contacted for Ramonda. After talking with Ross about why he had the beads and the situation with Shuri, Ramonda asked Griot if Shuri had her earrings when she was abducted, to which Griot claimed that, while she had, he had lost track of them in the North Atlantic. However, Griot was able to reveal to Ramonda that the people who took Shuri spoke Yucatec Mayan.[1]
Rescuing Shuri[]
In her attempt to rescue Shuri and Riri Williams, Nakia used Griot to scan for Shuri's Kimoyo Bead earrings in Yucatán, Mexico. Griot quickly picked up a signal from Shuri's earrings, explaining to her that the signal was coming from a cenote approximately 140 meters beneath the surface. After Nakia managed to rescue Shuri and Williams from the cavern and Ramonda had pulled them up into a Royal Talon Fighter, Ramonda ordered Griot to send the ship back to Wakanda immediately, to which Griot complied.[1]
Attack on the Golden City[]
During Namor's attack on the Golden City, Shuri called on Griot to activate the Sunbird for her and Aneka, to which Griot complied. Griot later informed Ramonda of the effects of the Talokanil's sonic hypnosis on the Wakandan EMTs, enabling Ramonda to order Ayo and the rest of the Dora Milaje to plug their ears in order to help rescue the EMTS.[1]
Return of the Black Panther[]
In the aftermath of the attack, Shuri ordered Griot to run a comparative analysis between their previous attempts at recreating the Heart-Shaped Herb and the pieces of the Talokanil Herb she had received from Namor, in addition to T'Challa's DNA. As Griot ran the analysis, Shuri and Riri Williams discussed Namor, realizing that his strength came from being able to draw oxygen from both the air and the water on his skin at the same time. Now with a plan to defeat Namor, Shuri ordered Griot to modify a Royal Talon Fighter into a pervaporation chamber in order to dry him out. Eventually, Griot was able to construct a model of the Heart-Shaped Herb with extremely high confidence and asked Shuri if she was ready to print it, to which Shuri confirmed as Nakia arrived. Shuri, Nakia, and Williams watched as Griot printed the herb, which soon began to glow, with everyone present realizing that the Heart-Shaped Herb and, potentially, the power of the Black Panther that it could bestow had been recreated.[1]
Ambush on the Talokanil[]
During a battle with the Talokanil, Ironheart called on Griot to scoop up Namor. Griot was happy to do so and sent the Royal Talon Fighter to trap Namor in. Shuri, now the Black Panther, arrived shortly after. She got Griot to turn on heat rays that would weaken Namor. When Namor tried to break free, Griot told Shuri how much damage he was doing with his raw Vibranium spear.
Shuri asked what would happen and Griot said the ship could blow up. Shuri just told him to take them to the desert. Griot did so just as the Talon Fighter blew up. Shuri and Namor fought until Shuri uttered the words, "Wakanda Forever." Griot then unleashed an explosion that defeated Namor.[1]
