Behind the Scenes
- Following the death of David Bowie on January 10, 2016, James Gunn stated that he wished to include a Bowie song on the soundtrack, making him the only artist to be featured on the soundtracks of both films.[1] While "Suffragette City" was featured in TV spots for the film, there are no Bowie songs on the final soundtrack.
- Two songs that Gunn wished to include in the film but could not find a place for them were "She's Gone" by Hall & Oates[2] and "Teenage Lament '74" by Alice Cooper.[3]
- Empire Magazine created a Spotify playlist for the film with the help of its cast and crew. The songs chosen were as follows[2]:
- "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top - Kurt Russell
- "She's Gone" by Hall & Oates - James Gunn
- "The Prettiest Star" by David Bowie - Elizabeth Debicki
- "Fuir Le Bonheur De Peur Qu’il Ne Se Sauve" by Jane Birkin - Pom Klementieff
- "Whiskey And You" by Chris Stapleton - Chris Pratt
- "Angel Band" by The Stanley Brothers - Michael Rooker
- "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones - Dave Bautista
- "Gentle On My Mind" by John Hartford - Sean Gunn
- "The Obvious Child" by Paul Simon - Zoe Saldana
- "Non, je ne regrette rien" by Édith Piaf - Karen Gillan
