- "My weapons contain enough destructive power to decimate every hostile capital on Earth."
- ―Johann Schmidt[src]
The HYDRA Parasit was a flying Atomic Bomb produced by HYDRA during World War II.
History
The HYDRA Parasits were created after Johann Schmidt harnessed the Tesseract in 1942. When HYDRA's super bomber, the Valkyrie, was finally finished, the bombs were stored on board the plane. With them, Schmidt intended to destroy the entire Eastern Seaboard of the United States.
When the US Army attacked Schmidt's base in 1945, he flew away in the Valkyrie. However, the plane was boarded by the Allied Super Soldier Captain America, who decided to stop Schmidt. The plane eventually crashed into icy waters of North Atlantic.[1]
Sixty-six years later, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team led by Nick Fury found one of the bombs in Greenland, with the pilot's frozen corpse inside.[2]
Design
The Parasits were carried in groups of eight aboard HYDRA's gigantic super bomber, the Valkyrie. All of them were controlled by a single pilot. These atomic bombs could decimate the capitals of all nations hostile to HYDRA.
Trivia
- A squadron of HYDRA Parasits appears in the Avengers Assemble episode The Age of Tony Stark when Tony Stark's messing with the Time Stone brings the squadron from the past into the modern age.
- The HYDRA Parasit's design is based on three German aircraft: the Messerschmitt Me 334, the Fieseler Fi 103R Reichenberg, and the Messerschmitt Me 328.
