Hauer was a HYDRA operative working as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
Biography
On orders from Alexander Pierce, Agents Rivera and Hauer were sent to the Rat to liberate HYDRA General Werner Reinhardt after forty-four years in prison.
When Agent Rivera left the cell, Hauer whispered, "Hail HYDRA" to the old man and told him that he would be moved to his old headquarters in Austria.
The two arrived there and Hauer alerted Reinhardt that HYDRA corralled the elders of the Hunan village. He witnessed Reinhardt find in the crowd a youthful woman whom he met in 1945.
As Reinhardt dissected the woman for her bodily fluids in an attempt to understand her uniqueness, Hauer stood beside him. After Reinhardt used those fluids to regain his youth, Hauer saw the results of the rejuvenation process and disposed of the young woman's corpse.[1]
