"Holotable – on. Holotable – activate."
Grant Ward[src]

The Holotable was a device in the shape of a table used to create holographic models that allow the study, analysis and reconstruction of a vast array of items, weapons and events.

History[]

Used by S.H.I.E.L.D.[]

"You do not touch that! Two semesters minimum of holographic engineering before you get to touch this!"
Leo Fitz to Skye[src]

When the Bus was refurbished by S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury for use by Agents Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons, a Holotable was installed on the Bus in the forensics laboratory.

During Coulson's Team first mission, data retrieved from the surveillance cameras found at a Centipede laboratory were too big to be modeled over the table, so the simulation is visualized in the cargo area at the rear of the plane. It allowed them to successfully see a reconstruction of the events.[1]

Holotable

When an 0-8-4 was found in Peru, Agent Leo Fitz quickly determined that the weapon was too dangerous to be analyzed, so its internal operation was analyzed through the models.[2]

Data can be remotely sent to the Holotable, as demonstrated when Agent Jemma Simmons sent data obtained with a Three Dimensional Scanner in Trillemarka National Park that allowed her to create a model of one part of the Berserker Staff.[3]

The data obtained from StatiCorp's Particle Accelerator allowed Agent Simmons to reconstruct the explosion of the accelerator, showing an alien landscape on the holographic model, and concluding that the StatiCorp facility was trying to create a portal to another dimension, just before Tobias Ford destroyed the Holotable.[4]

The table was soon replaced, and was used again by Agents Grant Ward and Phil Coulson to unsuccessfully analyze the Dendrotoxin Grenade that was used against them, until both decided to give up and upload the specs to S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters.[5]

Alternate Universe Versions[]

Framework[]

AtMM-AoS-HolotableFramework

The Doctor using the Holotable

In the virtual reality known as the Framework, HYDRA possessed a Holotable which was notably used by Leo Fitz, known as The Doctor. The Doctor used this Holotable over the course of Project Looking Glass, generating multiples holograms of the machine he designed so that his lover Aida, also known as Madame Hydra, would be able to generate a living body in the real world. Thanks to his work with the Holotable, The Doctor quickly finished the project as Madame Hydra had been severely injured by Daisy Johnson.[6]

Like everything else in the Framework, the Holotable was deleted when Aida triggered the shutdown of the program.[7]

Capabilities[]

The Holotable is one of the main devices in the forensics and research laboratory used by S.H.I.E.L.D. It creates holographic models that can be quickly deconstructed and analyzed. According to one of its users, Agent Leo Fitz, it is necessary to attend two semesters of holographic engineering minimum before successfully working with the Holotable.[4]

It is mainly used on items that cannot be studied otherwise, either because they are unknown, destroyed or deemed to dangerous to manipulate.

The data is usually inputted through a port where the item or the instrument that was used to retrieve/analyze it can be placed. The Holotable also has a function to print 3D models of the holograms.[3]
