The Kree are a scientifically and technologically advanced militaristic race of blue-skinned humanoids from the planet Hala. One of the most technologically efficient races in the galaxy, the Kree have special emphasis placed on their skills in genetic engineering and are known to the people of Earth as the progenitors of the Inhumans. They are a powerful force in the galaxy that control a vast empire characterized by its militaristic lifestyle, advanced technology, and arrogance.
The Kree are a humanoid race who follow a strict, militaristic lifestyle. They are the rulers of the Kree Empire, a large, interstellar imperial group that encompasses various planets, and features the Sakaaran species as a client race. They are one of the many races encountered by the Asgardians in the Nine Realms and the worlds beyond Yggdrasil. Their relationship with the Asgardians is frosty at best, as the Asgardians see the Kree as deceitful and savage. The Nova Empire, another galactic group that live in the same borders as the Kree Empire, have a strained relationship with the Kree, as evidenced by the great war that had been waged between the two factions for hundreds of decades.
War between the Kree and other races is renownedly frequent, and has brought a negative viewpoint upon their culture by other civilizations. During one such war, the Kree suffered high casualties and became divided on how to even the odds. One particular group of Kree dispatched science teams across different worlds, experimenting on various alien races in order to produce bio-weapons. One of the planets visited was pre-historical Earth; the humans were the most successful species to be subjected to the Kree's experiments. This gave rise to a sub-order called the Inhumans.Among them was a hunter who would eventually be transformed into Hive by the Kree Reapers.. The Inhumans had the potential to obtain supernatural powers and characteristics if exposed to the Terrigen Mist, a mutagen exhaled from Terrigen Crystals. The Kree created Diviners to carry the crystals, and they were built to only recognize the unique genetic patterns in Inhumans so it could be ferried to a cityscape that the Kree constructed deep beneath the planet's surface; once joined with a temple built within the city, the Diviners would unveil the crystals inside and subject the Inhumans to further transmutation.
The Kree Empire soon discovered these illegal practices and eradicated the operation. Hive was intended to lead the Inhumans for the Kree, but instead he rebelled them and led the Inhumans against their creators and banished them from Earth, leaving behind the Diviners, the Inhumans, and a member of their race who was either dead at the time or died later. However, the Kree decided that the Inhumans must be destroyed. As a way to do so, the Kree had the Monolith, a stone-like object that when it would turn into liquid form, it would be a portal to the distant desert planet, Maveth.
Centuries later, this Kree, later dubbed G.H., was discovered dead by residents of a Chinese village, and eventually fell into the hands of HYDRA, the Strategic Scientific Reserve, and ultimately S.H.I.E.L.D.. The agency tried repeatedly to use the G.H.'s blood as a basis for advanced healing formulas for Project T.A.H.I.T.I., but most attempts proved fruitless, resulting in the test subjects becoming dangerously psychotic. The G.H. was then destroyed.
It was also around this time that Phil Coulson, in an attempt to find the reason behind the G.H.'s presence on Earth, asked Lady Sif which of the many alien species she had previously encountered was blue. The Kree were one of the races she mentioned, but she added that the Kree had never been on Earth, obviously unaware of their visit millennia before.

In recent times, the war between the Kree and the Nova Empire ended, thanks in no small part to the Nova Prime Irani Rael being able to force the Kree to sign a peace treaty. Seeking revenge against the Nova Empire and refusing to abide by the treaty, Ronan the Accuser allied with Thanos, promising to give him the Orb in exchange for the forces necessary to annihilate Xandar, the capitol of the Nova Empire. The treaty was not popular among the Kree citizenry, as massive riots broke out across their homeworld when the news of it broke.
Ronan's quest against Xandar eventually led to his downfall. In a destructive battle waged in both Xandar's airways and city streets, Ronan came close to destroying the entire planet using an Infinity Stone, but the Guardians of the Galaxy were able to use the stone to kill him.
Seeking the Inhumans
A Kree named Vin-Tak came to Earth when he noticed that a Diviner had been activated; believing the Inhumans as abominations, and fearing what would happen if the Empire found out about them, he sought to kill whoever had transformed. He decided to destroy any remaining Diviners first, before seeking his target. Vin-Tak discovered that the six Diviners on Earth buried in Portugal were gone.
He was apprehended by S.H.I.E.L.D. and revealed to Phil Coulson, Melinda May, and Skye the origin of the Inhumans; Sif was there also because of the enmity between their races caused her to investigate his presence on Earth. Upon discovering that Skye was an Inhuman, Vin-Tak allied himself with Sif to kill her. However, opposition from Bobbi Morse using her battle staves and Leo Fitz using the Destroyer Armor Prototype Gun delayed his progress. Morse used his own Truncheon on him to cause him to forget his mission.
Summoned by Hive
Hive took Daisy Johnson, Alisha Whitley and Hellfire to Union City, in order to create his own army of Inhumans by having Holden Radcliffe help him re-create the original Kree experiment. At first, the experiment failed and Radcliffe assured him that it would work but they needed blood from a living Kree individual. Hive then used a device to emit a radio signal to summon the Kree Reapers which, according to him, were orbiting the solar system ever since the experiment, centuries ago.
The Kree Reapers destroyed the place where the radio orb device was located while a S.H.I.E.L.D. strike enforcement team led by Alphonso Mackenzie was inside but evacuated immediately after Director Phil Coulson warned them of the incoming projectile. The Kree Reapers proceeded to hunt down Inhumans; one of them was walking down the streets and was seen by two people at least, eventually finding Alisha Whitley and killing her double and herself once and for all. Then the Kree Reaper found where Radcliffe was working and fought Johnson where she used her powers on the Kree Reaper's spine to kill him. Radcliffe managed to get some of the Kree Reaper's blood out of its corpse before it was hit by a Splinter Bomb thrown by Mackenzie.
The other Kree fought with Hive who was almost outperformed by the Kree Reaper, but eventually, Hive used his Inhuman powers to eliminate and absorb the organic matter from the Kree. Meanwhile, the S.H.I.E.L.D. strike team and Melinda May were waiting for the perfect chance to take Hive down, but were forced to retreat when Hive proved superior to their tactics and weaponry.
The Kree are a humanoid species and resemble the human race almost exactly, with the exception of having blue skin, mostly purple eyes and sometimes pointed ears, like the Kree Ambassador. They have a higher strength level than that of a human and comparable to that of an Asgardian. They are strong enough and have quick enough reflexes to easily overpower other races like Drax in hand-to-hand combat. They also have the fortitude to hold Infinity Stones for a brief amount of time. Their physicality is much different, having adapted to various environmental characteristics on their home planet.
Another noteworthy trait is their highly potent regenerative capabilities. Their healing factor is considered to be so profound that S.H.I.E.L.D. attempted to use the G.H.'s blood to perform transfusions with mortally wounded, dying, or dead humans in order to resurrect them or cure them of terminal illnesses. Their lifespans are potentially thousands of years long as Ronan described a team of other races as mortal.
Kree skin, when overexposed to nitrogen, changes from blue to pink, heightening their resemblance to humans. Although other races of Kree with natural skin colors other than blue have been shown to exist, such as Korath the Pursuer, whose dark skin closely resembles that of a human native to the African continent.
The Kree have their own language, although they can speak to other races in their respective language. Other extraterrestrial races, such as the Asgardians, even teach it to their young, similar to foreign language studies on Earth. For example, the word kava means key.

- In the comics, the Kree shared their home planet with a race of equally intelligent plant-like beings called the Cotati. The early evolution of both species was influenced heavily by the Skrulls, who granted them advanced technology with hopes of eventually absorbing the Kree and Cotati into their trading empire. As a result of the Skrulls' favoritism towards the Cotati, the Kree declared feudal war against the Skrulls, drawing the Avengers and other heroes into it as both races wanted to conquer Earth due to its strategic position within the galaxy.
