The Leviathan was the advanced submarine used by HYDRA during World War II.
History
In 1944, the Leviathan sunk the Allied merchant freighter with the experimental thunder lance torpedo, somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea. Unfortunately for the HYDRA crew, Captain America was aboard that freighter. He swam to the submarine, boarded it, and attacked the crew.[1]
