"The Marauders are scavengers first, warriors last. They will loot all they can before taking that which must be fought for."

The Marauders are a group of ragtag invaders who attacked all the Nine Realms. They are composed of various races, many of them considered lowlifes by the more cultured and civilized inhabitants of the realms. After Thor destroyed the Bifrost Bridge in 2011,[1] the Asgardians were confined to their home realm, leaving the other Nine Realms completely undefended. Taking advantage of this, the Marauders set about invading the realms, murdering and looting whatever they could find.

They were a patchwork group, having no set uniform. They fought with swords, spears, axes, guns, missile launchers, and harpoon launchers among other things. When the Bifrost was finally repaired by Heimdall,[2] the Asgardians quickly intervened and overwhelmed the Marauders with ease. After Thor killed the Kronan Marauder, prompting the surviving Marauders at Vanaheim to surrender, they were taken to Asgard to be imprisoned in its dungeons. During a prison break engineered by the Dark Elves in order to provide a distraction to take the Aether from Jane Foster's body, the Marauders were able to procure weapons and begin battling the guards. The remaining Marauders died in the fight though some survived and remained imprisoned.[3]
