"We've hit the 'North Korean dictator' level of creepy."
Jemma Simmons[src]

North Korea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, is a country in eastern Asia on the northern half of the Korean Peninsula.

History[]

Korean War[]

Japan's surrender during World War II brought an end to Japanese control over Korea. Japanese Korea was now left in the hands of the two superpowers, with the Soviet Union administering the north of the Korean peninsula while the United States military administered the south. This led to Korea splitting into two, forming the socialist Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the north, informally known as North Korea, and the capitalist Republic of Korea in the south, informally known as South Korea.

During the Korean War, in which both countries fought for reunification, HYDRA deployed Winter Soldier to aid the Soviet Armed Forces. By 1951, rumors of his presence on the peninsula began to circulate.[1]

U.S. Senate Armed Forces Committee[]

"If you'll direct your attention to said screens, I believe that's North Korea."
Tony Stark[src]

North Korea, along with other countries and organizations from all over the world, tried to develop a suit similar to the Iron Man Armors. Tony Stark showed a video of some of the failed attempts to the Senate Armed Forces Committee, one of them being North Korea's, in order to prove that their excuse of the development of similar suits over the world was not an imminent threat that required handing over the Iron Man armor for military application.[2]

The Ten Rings' Plan[]

"This looks like Frampton's plan for space tourism-- One million dollars for a ticket into orbit on his private spacecraft... launched from a site Sojourn bought from the Russian government near the border of North Korea."
Black Widow[src]

According to a plan devised by the Ten Rings, Richard Frampton acquired the parts required to assemble a Hammer Industries version of the Jericho missile, intending to launch it to North Korea from Russia to destabilize the region. However, the plan was thwarted by S.H.I.E.L.D., as Black Widow changed the target of the missiles to their original launch site and killing Frampton in the subsequent explosion.[3]
