Phase One is the first part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has also been called Avengers Assembled. From 2008 to 2012, the Phase One films grossed $3.8 billion ($3,811,026,406) worldwide. The next group of films is called Phase Two.
The first set of movies introduces the main universe in which the films are set, as well as core characters such as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Nick Fury, and organizations such as S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA. Many of the films in Phase One focus on the Tesseract, an alien artifact that is later established as one of the six Infinity Stones. The final film, The Avengers, involves the villains Loki and Thanos allying to steal the Tesseract and conquer Earth, leading to the formation of the Avengers.
When wealthy industrialist Tony Stark is forced to build an armored suit after a life-threatening incident, he ultimately decides to use the technology to fight against evil.
Thanks to a gamma ray experiment gone wrong, Dr. Bruce Banner must deal with the side effects as well as being hunted by the military. Meanwhile a soldier uses the same technology to become a deadly abomination.
With the world now aware of his dual life as an armored superhero, billionaire inventor Tony Stark faces pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military, along with dealing with an insane Russian genius who is intent on killing him.
After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending American ideals.
