The Spider-Man Suit is a specialized suit used by Peter Parker to protect his identity while operating as Spider-Man. Originally consisting of a hoodie with a spider symbol, blue pants, a blue shirt, and a red mask with black goggles to help him focus his senses, the suit received a "minor upgrade" from Tony Stark for Parker to use during the Clash of the Avengers; Stark allowed Parker to keep the suit after the Avengers Civil War.
The updated suit has many new features, such as Karen, an artificially intelligent system to aid him, a heads-up display embedded in the eye lenses, a reconnaissance drone, as well as gliding and parachuting abilities. The suit was also monitored by the Stark Industry Training Wheels Protocol, a program designed and installed into the suit by Stark to restrict certain actions, as well as the Baby Monitor Protocol, which tracked and recorded everything through the eye lenses.
After Spider-Man successfully apprehended the Vulture, Stark offered a newer upgrade of the suit to Parker if he moved into the New Avengers Facility and became the newest official member of the Avengers; however, Parker turned the invitation down, preferring to continue living in Queens and being a local hero instead. Impressed at his maturity, Stark accepted his decision and returned the second suit back to Parker, after having confiscated it earlier following the aftermath of the Skirmish on the Staten Island Ferry.

Originally, Peter Parker wore a homemade suit consisting of cheap red and blue clothing such as a blue onesie-like suit with a red hoodie over the top with the sleeves ripped off and a black spider on the chest, red fingerless gloves with black webbing designs on them and black goggles to fight crime in New York City; he hid this suit from his aunt May by hiding it in a loft above his room which came down on a rope whenever someone opened it. Stark then told Parker that he wasn't Spider-Man in his onesie and told the young hero that he needed an upgrade from top to bottom.[3]

When Parker arrived in Berlin, he was told by Happy Hogan to suit up, which he did by wearing his homemade suit and prepping himself mentally for the upcoming Clash of the Avengers. However, Hogan asked him what he was wearing and redirected him to the upgraded suit Stark had left for him, and ordered him to get dressed quickly.[4]

Peter Parker, who was unaware of suitcase Happy was referring to, then located it in another part of his hotel room and opened it, revealing the new suit and its features and upgrades. Parker, speechless, put on the suit and joined Hogan who took him to Flughafen Leipzig-Halle airport.[4]

Tony Stark constructed a new-and-improved suit for Peter Parker after visiting him and seeing the old costume he used to fight crime as Spider-Man. This new suit was more tight fitting and the exact same color as his old suit. He used this suit at the Clash of the Avengers to fight Captain America's faction.[3]

After returning from Berlin, Stark allowed Parker to retain the suit to continue operating as Spider-Man, although he advised the young hero not do anything he would or would not do and to remain on the ground, a proposal which Parker accepted. Parker then asked when the next mission was, and Stark replied that if they needed him then someone would contact him, and appointed Happy Hogan to be their liaison.[4]

Two months after the Avengers Civil War, Peter Parker continued his life as a local crime-fighter every day after school, using his new Spider-Man Suit given to him by Tony Stark. Such as stopping a bicycle thief and guiding an old woman. Eventually one night, he spotted a small group of thieves attempting to rob an ATM.
Parker sneaks back into his room.
Parker returned home later that day and stealthily crawled into his room through the window, since he lost his backpack with his civilian clothes inside it. Once inside it turned out that Leeds had been there all along and witnessed Parker in his suit as well as crawling on the ceiling. Parker tried to defend himself but wasn't able to convince his friend otherwise.

Later in the next day, May drove Peter Parker and his friend Ned Leeds to the Toomes Residence. Parker was wearing his Spider-Man suit beneath his clothes. Parker was adamant to be himself. They greeted Toomes and met up with Michelle Jones who were also in the party. However after another taunt from Thompson, Parker excused himself and donned his costume outside on the residence's roof. On the roof, Parker spotted an explosion happening not far away. Taking on his mask, Spider-Man went to investigate.

He found Jackson Brice and Herman Schultz trying to sell a man the same weapons from the ATM theft the day before. The buyer wasn't interested in such dangerous weapon and preferred a simple gun. Spider-Man intervened and a chase ensued. Spider-Man webbed on the thug's van and was dragged along as they tried to make their escape. Eventually, they were successful, which forced Spider-Man to take short-cuts through other people's houses which caused a lot of disturbance.

He managed to find the criminal's van. Just as Spider-Man was about to jump down to their van, a man with armored wings appeared and grabbed him from behind. Spider-Man struggled to get off the new enemy's grip as the man brought him higher in the sky. During their struggle when Vulture reached high enough the Spider-Man Suit's emergency parachute activated. The parachute caught the wind and allowed Spider-Man to get off Vulture's grip.

Spider-Man crashed into the lake. The parachute hindered Spider-Man and he struggled to release himself from it. Then Iron Man appeared and saved him. Pulling him up from the lake, Tony Stark talked to Peter. Stark explained that he placed a tracker onto Parker's suit which allowed him to observe him. Parker explained the situation to him and Stark responded by urging Parker to forget Vulture and let others more experienced people handled this matter.[4]

Parker began investigating on his new adversary. He told Leeds about his encounter with Vulture and the power core that has been left behind during the chase. After they spent some time examining the power core, they encountered Schultz and another thug looking for the missing core in school. Parker followed them during their search and planted a tracker on them. Parker and Leeds began following the gang's movements and learned that they were heading to Maryland.

Since the school's decathlon team were heading to Washington, D.C. for the national tournament, Parker rejoins the team. Once there Parker began preparing himself for his task. While removing the tracker from his suit, Leeds learned that the Spider-Man Suit was on the Training Wheels Protocol. Eager to prove himself to Tony Stark, Peter convinced Ned to disable the protocol despite his friend's misgivings. And then Parker left to pursue the criminals.

When he donned the suit, Spider-Man discovered that the suit was harboring an A.I. and after introducing herself, Spider-Man learned about the suit's full capabilities such as an heads-up display and many more advanced Web-Shooter combinations.
He found Vulture's gang near an empty gas station. Using the suit's advanced function to overhear their conversation, Spider-Man learned that Vulture intend to steal confiscated tech from Damage Control trucks. Spider-Man went after the vehicle and confronted Vulture when he was about to leave. They fought briefly and, due to his carelessness, resulted in Spider-Man getting trapped inside the truck.

Sometime later, Spider-Man woke up. The A.I. informed him that he was inside a Damage Control safe-house and would not be able to leave until morning. At first, he tried to force the door open to no avail. Deciding to wait it out, he spent some time learning the different Web-Shooter combinations even gave the A.I. a name: Karen.
Working together with Karen, Spider-Man tried to manually open the door by tinkering with the fuse box. After a lot of effort and different combination, Spider-Man managed to open the door and immediately began making his journey back to Washington, D.C.[4]

Spider-Man managed to track his friends to the Washington Monument and reached the place just as the Chitauri Energy Core exploded inside Ned Leeds backpack. Karen informed him that his friends were trapped inside the Monument elevator. The elevator was damaged and will plummet to the ground floor in a short amount of time. Spider-Man immediately began to crawl on the monument and tried to reach the top as quickly as he could.

His rescue attempt gained the attention of the local authority. Spider-Man tried to explain the situation to them but they instead started to demand Spider-Man to leave the monument and get back on the ground on the threat of being shot. Despite the threats, Spider-Man ignored them and managed to enter the monument by breaking through the windows. He barely managed to get inside in time to hold the elevator with his webs as it started to plummeted to the ground. Spider-Man managed to save his schoolmates who were trapped in the elevator.[4]

Thanks to his heroic actions, Spider-Man was hailed as a hero in his school after he returned to New York City. He learned from Karen that the Spider-Man Suit has recorded everything he did while wearing it. Reviewing back to the day of the aborted weapons deal, he learned the identity of the buyer was Aaron Davis and went to confront him. At Karen's suggestion, he put on the Inhanced Interrogation Protocol which amplified his voice into an intimidating one.
Spider-Man confronted Davis in a parking lot. He webbed his hand onto his car bonnet. Spider-Man attempts to intimidate Davis failed as the man already heard his voice a few nights ago. Disabling the voice amplifier after some teasing, Spider-Man asked for Vulture's location. Grateful for saving him the other night Davis informed Spider-Man about another weapons deal that will take place on Staten Island Ferry.[4]

Following Aaron Davis' lead, Spider-Man sneaked into the ferry and went looking for Vulture. During his scouting, Stark called him to which Spider-Man was forced to hang up in order to focus on his targets. Spider-Man interrupted the deal and began fighting Vulture's gang and Mac Gargan. Spider-Man managed to defeat them but was then interrupted by FBI who began arresting everyone including Spider-Man.

This distraction was all the Vulture needed to don his suit and began attacking Spider-Man and the FBI. While Spider-Man protected and saved the agents from the villain's attacks, Vulture freed his men and urged them to escape. Another fierce fight ensued as Vulture tried to kill Spider-Man with his advanced weaponry. Spider-Man countered by using his new Web-Shooters advanced function to even the odds.

Eventually, the fight resulted in Vulture's Chitauri alien weapon malfunctioning. Spider-Man tried to web the weapon up only for it to short-circuit and cut the ferry in half, leading to Spider-Man desperately trying to save the people inside. At his request, Karen quickly calculated the strongest points of the ship and Spider-Man quickly went to work by linking them together in order to maintain it's structure. Spider-Man seemingly managed to hold the ship together, only to learn that he'd missed one spot and the ship began collapsing. In desperation, Spider-Man webbed and painfully held both halves of the ship by himself in a herculean effort to save the ship. Then Spider-Man noticed that the ship wasn't sinking anymore and it stopped being painful to hold the ship together. Iron Man revealed himself and aided in the civilians' rescue. He quickly resealed the ship by reforging the cutlines. After that, he took Spider-Man away to have a private talk.[4]

When Parker confronted Vulture after Tony Stark told him not to, the hero had accidentally put several civilians in jeopardy. Stark demanded the suit back and Parker tearfully protested and pleaded that the suit was all he had and that he was nothing without it. Stark replied that if he was nothing without the suit then he shouldn't have it. Stark returned Parker home and gave him a t-shirt to wear.[4]

Going to face the Vulture once again Peter Parker went to grab his Homemade suit stashed beneath the school lockers. Hastily putting on the suit, Spider-Man went outside only to be ambushed by Shocker. Spider-Man was unprepared for his presence and his enemy's attack caused him to lose his Web-Shooters putting him at a disadvantage. Shocker relentlessly kept attacking Spider-Man, smashing him through school buses. Before Shocker could hit him again, Spider-Man was saved by the timely arrival of Ned Leeds who stopped Shocker's attack with the Web-Shooter. Immediately taking the advantage, Spider-Man defeated Shocker and webbed him against a school bus.

With Leeds help, Spider-Man managed to track Toomes to an old warehouse. He went inside and found him standing near a working table. Peter Parker asked Toomes how Toomes could do this to his family and Toomes stalled for time to activate his Exo-Suit and began attacking Spider-Man. Peter dodged all of the attacks and taunted Toomes only for him to reply that he wasn't aiming at him. The wings smashed through the last supporting beam of the warehouse and debris collapsed upon Spider-Man. Vulture dons his suit and left him to die.
Beneath the rubble, Peter Parker was trapped between two big debris, unable to move and barely able to breathe. Struggling and in pain, Parker spotted his mask in the water and his own reflection. Remembering Stark's word, Parker finally understands what his mentor meant. With or without the suit, he was Spider-Man. Encouraged by this realization, Spider-Man regained his resolve and began to painfully push the rubble off of him. Finally, he broke free of his entrapment and determinedly pursued Vulture.

Spider-Man managed to find Vulture. He webbed on to him as he flown toward the Stark Cargo Plane. Unaware of his presence, Vulture continued his hijacking. Lacking his new suit's advanced capabilities, Spider-Man could only improvise and dodged Vulture's relentless attacks. Their fight resulted in extensive damage to the cargo plane. When Spider-Man realized that the plane was about to crash into New York City, he used his webs and strength to change the crashing to the beach of Coney Island instead.

Exhausted and injured, Spider-Man was forced to take off his mask to breath. Without the mask, his senses overwhelmed him and allowed Vulture take him by surprise. Despite the damage on his adversary's suit, Vulture maintained the advantage and brutally attacked Spider-Man Holding him up with his wings, Vulture was about to kill him when he spotted a nearby crate. He then left Spider-Man on the ground and went to grab it instead. Spider-Man noticed that Vulture's wings were about to explode and tried to save him. Finally, Vulture's wings exploded and crashed back down to the ground in flames. Spider-Man went into the flames and managed to find and save Toomes. He then webbed him to the remaining cargo and watched from afar as the police went to arrest Toomes.

After Parker successfully apprehended Vulture and prevented the theft of valuable Avengers and Stark Industries equipment, a proud Stark decided to induct Parker as an official member of the Avengers roster, complete with a press conference and a new suit. This new suit would serve as his official Avengers outfit, which he asked Parker to wear for the conference.

However, Parker declined both the membership and the new suit, preferring to continue being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man who fought for the little guy. Stark attempted to persuade Parker into changing his decision by telling him to take a better look at the suit, although Parker remained steadfast in his decision. Accepting Parker's choice, Stark put the suit away.[4]
Regaining the Suit

Back home, Peter Parker found that Tony Stark had returned his Tech Suit. Excited, Spider-Man put on the suit again, ready to resume his heroics. Unaware and to his surprise, his Aunt May was behind him.
Capabilities
Homemade Suit
- Web-Shooters: The suit has Web-Shooters strapped onto the wrists that allow Spider-Man to discharge synthetic webbing for various purposes. These were the only part of the costume which Tony Stark didn't mock.

- Goggles: Peter relied on wearing black goggles which had adjustable lenses for Peter to see out of. The lenses could widen and squint to allow him to block extra stimuli due to his highly enhanced senses making it difficult for him to focus. Tony Stark mocked the goggles while they were squinted, saying 'Lordy! Can you even see in these?', to which Peter explained their purpose.

"Congratulations on completing the rigorous Training Wheels Protocol, and gaining access to your suit's full capabilities."

- A.I.: The suit has an inbuilt A.I. system named Karen, similar to Tony Stark ’s F.R.I.D.A.Y., that informs Spider-Man on changing tactical situations, as well as providing diagnostic reports. This feature was initially set to activate after Peter completed the Training Wheels Protocol but was unblocked by Ned Leeds. Karen records and stores data while the suit is in use through the Baby Monitor Protocol, allowing Spider-Man to access a personal database and review information he may have overlooked previously, or to research further into people or events he's previously encountered. Karen is also able to suggest and activate features of the suit without Spider-Man's command, such as when she activated the suit's 'Enhanced Reconnaissance Mode' when Peter needed help surveying a couple of criminals.
- Enhanced Durability: Made using a highly endurant fabric, Spider-Man's new suit is highly tear resistant, as seen when it received no damage after being dragged along the streets after a van, withstood the strain of Spider-Man holding the Staten Island Ferry together, as well as when it was unscathed by shards of shattered glass during the Rescue at the Washington Monument. In addition, the suit is resistant to water damage, as showcased when the suit and its technological capabilities were unaffected despite being submerged in water.
- Eye Lenses: Spider-Man's eye lenses, much like his original suit's goggles, appears to be modeled after camera shutters, giving him a squinting look when they close in and provide him a greater depth of field. This mechanism also helps Parker filter out extra stimuli. The lenses also allow Spider-Man to see in different spectrums, as well as display a HUD for Peter to use.
- HUD: The suit has an inbuilt AR heads-up display system, powered by Karen, allowing Spider-Man to analyze his surroundings.
- X-Ray Vision: Peter can ask Karen to switch his visuals into a different visual spectrum, allowing him to see through several objects.
- Upgraded Web-Shooters: The suit came with Stark's more streamlined version of Parker's original Web-Shooters strapped onto the wrists that allow Spider-Man to discharge synthetic webbing for various purposes. It was revealed that the Web-Shooters allows Spider-Man to display holographic information, as seen when he first received the suit, including the projection of a Spider-Signal with the motif of his mask and the tracking coordinates of his Reconnaissance Drone and Spider-Tracers. In addition, the Web-Shooters are configurable to allow Spider-Man to use up to 576 different combinations of his synthetic webbing, such as the Web Grenade, a configuration that detonates and neutralizes its target after a few seconds. The different combinations are dialed through either hand gestures or voice commands, with the suit's HUD showing the different selections.
- Web Grenade: A web configuration that holds an explosive charge at the end of it which, when detonated, releases another, more powerful web either in the form of a net or another web line.
- Taser Web: An option in the basic webbing that allows for an electric current to flow through the webbing and neutralize the target.
- Splitter Web: Several web lines attaching to several targets at the same time.
- Rapid Fire: A series of smaller web projectiles fired at a constant, high-velocity pace.
- Ricochet Web: The ricochet web setting fires a strand of webbing that bounces off an initial obstacle and sticks to a target.
- Spider Tracers: This version of the web-shooters demonstrates the ability to launch small GPS trackers, which Peter can track via his suit's systems.
- Utility Belt: The belt attached to the suit can hold up to six spare web cartridges to be used as a refill for Spider-Man's Web-Shooters.[5]

- Web Wings: An upgrade from Tony Stark that allows Spider-Man to glide in the air with a pair of wings that spread from his armpits and extend to his upper arms and thighs. They can be retracted for when he doesn't need them, and are typically only used for when he's too high or not enough places for him to swing from.[4]
- Vacuum Seal: By pressing the emblem on the chest, Peter can have the suit expand and become several sizes larger, allowing him to slip out of the suit easily. It appears that he can still wear undergarments such as boxer shorts under the suit due to the same process compressing the suit through vents located throughout the suit, making it appear as though he's not wearing anything underneath.[4] Once the process is completed, the suit's A.I. boots up and goes through a diagnostics check.
- Reconnaissance Drone: In addition to altering the suit's size, the spider emblem on his chest is capable of detaching from its socket, utilizing a miniature propulsion engine from its tail section that allows it to fly through the air, seemingly independent of Spider-Man's control. It has a drone mode which allows it to fly onto a target and act as a tracking device.

- Enhanced Reconnaissance Mode: This mode allows Spider-Man's hearing and optics to be enhanced. It enables both X-Ray and infrared vision to see through solid objects and locate his target. It also allows for enhanced hearing to the point that he can hear conversations from awhile away. It also corresponds to the suit's databases, allowing for data retrieval about certain individuals and their backgrounds.

- Enhanced Combat Mode: The suit was programmed with a function to enhance combat ability and performance. A specific effect of this function was its default "Rapid Fire" setting for the web-shooters, allowing them to rapidly fire web projectiles.
- Instant-Kill Mode: As the name suggests, it allows Spider-Man and his webs to attack in manners that could kill a target in a fraction of a second. This is Spider-Man's least favorite feature, considering how often he nudges against using it despite furthering learning how to use the suit. While in Instant-Kill Mode the suit's eye lenses enclose together exposing only a small red light emitting from the eyes.
- Enhanced Interrogation Mode: Spider-Man's voice is digitally altered to sound deep, gravely and intimidating in order to better interrogate criminals.
- GPS Tracking System: In his right Web-Shooter, Parker has access to the suit's GPS tracking system via a holographic display, allowing him to follow his Spider-Drone. This feature also allowed Tony Stark to track his whereabouts at all times, until its tracker was deactivated by Ned Leeds.
- Parachute: The suit has a built-in parachute, deployed from the spider symbol on his back once Spider-Man exceeds a certain altitude. Despite its utility, the parachute is a one-time use, requiring the suit to be resupplied after each use.

- Heater: The suit has an inbuilt heating system to keep Spider-Man warm. The heater was powerful enough to instantly dry up the suit if it was soaked in water, much to the satisfaction of a drenched Peter.
- Communication System: The suit has a built-in communication system, this was shown when Peter received a phone call from Aunt May (which he denied when he was attempting to save his friends trapped in the Washington Monument) and entered a video-chat with Tony Stark. He was only able to communicate during the Clash of the Avengers by Bluetooth speakers, not with the actual suit.

- In most adaptations of the character, Peter Parker created his Spider-Man suit himself, while Tony Stark created the Iron Spider Armor for him during the Civil War. Peter's own Spider-Man suit is typically an ordinary costume, without any internal functions, which he uses with his own independent equipment, such as his Web-Shooters and utility belt.
- The camera shutter-like eye lenses may refer to Peter Parker's occupation as a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle in the comics. It can also refer to numerous times in the comics where his eye lenses would show expressions by widening or squinting even though he's wearing a cloth mask.
- When activated, the "Instant-Kill" mode on Parker's tech suit makes him slightly resemble an alternate version of him called Assassin Spider-Man, who had black lenses.
- The homemade suit resembles the Scarlet Spider's costume, though the color palette is swapped.
- The original suit's design was also more similar to Spider-Man Noir's jacket-less suit which mostly appeared in the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions video game and Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man animated series.
- In fact, Ryan Meinerding, one of the concept artists who worked on Spider-Man: Homecoming, revealed an unused design of the homemade suit which bore a more striking resemblance to the Scarlet Spider.
Behind the Scenes
- Each design of Parker's suits are all based on a variety of costumes he wore in the comics: the homemade suit's design is based on the Scarlet Spider costume, the tech suit is an homage to the classic Steve Ditko costume, and the Avengers Suit is reminiscent of the Iron Spider Armor.
- The suit was mostly a CGI creation for Captain America: Civil War, but an actual costume was created for Spider-Man: Homecoming, to be worn by Tom Holland. However, Holland once again used a CGI suit for Avengers: Infinity War.
- Concept art for the tech suit also reveals that it initially held resemblance to the Superior Spider-Man suit from the comics.
