So like many of you I enjoyed Iron Fist Season 1, but like many of you I can accept that there are some major issues with it.
Personally I would put most of the blame for the issues on Showrunner Scott Buck who, unlike previous Showrunners like Cheo Hodari Coker and Melissa Rosenberg, does not appear to have a real passion for the genre of show he's making.
Coker is passionate about representing black culture and the struggles that come with that, Rosenberg wants to push women in media and give them great characters who they can relate to. Buck strikes me as someone who wanted to make a decent show, but didn't have much love for the characters and more importantly the genre of martial arts that Iron Fist should be embracing. He makes the fatal mistake of making the action sequences far too choppy when they should be expertly rehearsed and performed in longer takes.
I would be very surprised if Buck returns considering the critical reaction to the first season, so the my question is, who do you think should take over as Showrunner.
My vote goes to Gareth Evans of The Raid movies, as he could give a real energy to the show and clearly knows how to shoot some incredible action scenes, something Buck failed to do. Evans may not have experience doing TV so maybe that will hinder his chances, so who would you like to see take the job? Would you like Buck to return or do you have another suggestion?
