Part 1: Pros and Cons of Humor[]

Some love it, some hate it. But, no matter what some people say, humor was always part of the MCU. Sometimes it made us laugh, sometimes it made us groan. I, TBH, am particularly fond of humor, especially if it's in-character or simply deadpan. I love when humor is delivered in a deadpan way. #draxisthemasterrace

Pros:

Funny.

Makes us smile when something tragic happens.

Lightens up the cinema (or tellie).

Suits most of the characters.

It would be boring to follow the brooding routine. Can you imagine someone like, say, Iron Man as the brooding type? *buzzer goes off*

Gives us a small taste of the Deadpool madness that may never happen.

Life would be ill-represented without humor, so it would be weird not to add it to at least some movies.

Cons:

Sometimes ruins the tone.

Sometimes unneeded.

Sometimes there's just too much.

As you can see, the pros far outweigh the cons. I also have more arguments. Like, if Spider-Man and Rocket Raccoon were toned down to make them seem like they're adult and all SERIOUS, the movies would be dumb. A la Batman is DC's thing, they were successful with that in comics, they have a way to execute it in movies as well. But Marvel has always been known for the more lighthearted take on life.

Without the frills and thrills, Marvel would just be, well, another comic company. Still, sometimes the comedy might need to be removed, so that the really point can sink in, and sometimes it's just too much, even for me. It may have those transgressions, but imagine if Ragnarok went all dark and dreary like Dark World and became a flop. We would give up on Thor movies altogether. Having it be a cosmic, super hero action comedy mash up made it one of the best movies Marvel has released.

Another prime example is Guardians of the Galaxy. In the comics, the Guardians are the drunk uncle of the Marvel super hero team family. They were the wild cards, going places where others couldn't (or wouldn't), and doing stuff a bit too much for the Terrans to handle. But even a small touch of humor was never absent. Making Drax considerably weaker was a bit of a downer, but they really spruced him up with the deadpan portrayal and humor. Without the laughs, GOTG would just be another Avengers.

All I'm saying is that the pros of having humor in the MCU are much better than the cons.
