The Wrigley Fire Department was one of the fire departments called to New York City to douse fires caused by the battle and to insure the safety of the civilians. During their time in one of the firefighters, Tony Diaz and his colleagues, found a Chitauri Helmet. Diaz took the helmet with him as decoration for in the fire station.
Unbeknownst to the firefighters of the department, the found helmet contained a virus. Months after the battle of New York Adam Cross, a volunteer for the fire department, died from a strange electrical phenomenon, caused by the virus, while camping with a group of boy scouts. As a result of his death, the firefighters from the station wore a mourning badge. The next day, a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents arrived to investigate his death. Later that day they found the dead body of Frank Whalen, another volunteer, in the same way the body of Cross was found.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, who discovered the link between the two deceased men, visited the fire station. At the station, they discovered the origin of their deaths, a virus from the Chitauri helmet. The agents talked with fire fighter Tony Diaz, who found the helmet, about his fate. Knowing his fate Diaz stayed in the fire station while his co-workers evacuated the building, while the agents took the helmet with them.
