Aero-Rigs are jetpack-like devices invented by Rocket Raccoon to assist the Guardians of the Galaxy.

History[]

Battle on Sovereign[]

"Drax, why aren't you wearing one of Rocket's Aero-Rigs?"
"It hurts."
Gamora and Drax the Destroyer[src]

The Guardians of the Galaxy used the Aero-Rigs in order to fight an Abilisk, with Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon using them to distract the monster and orbit the creature, giving Gamora the chance she needed to kill it.[1]

Battle on Ego's Planet[]

"A space suit and an Aero-Rig, I only have one of each."
Rocket Raccoon to Yondu Udonta[src]

At the Battle on Ego's Planet, Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord again used the Aero-Rigs to fly around the planet's core, battling the Sovereign.

Star-Lord gave Drax the Destroyer his Aero-Rig so he could fly an unconscious Mantis to safety.

Eventually, Rocket gave Yondu Udonta his last Aero-Rig so he could escape the dying planet. Yondu Udonta put on the device and rescued Star-Lord, flying both of them to safety, but dying in the process due to accessing the vacuum of space unprotected.[1]

Capabilities[]

Aero-Rigs utilizes a wide array of capabilities.

  • Size-Altering: Aero-Rigs can be shrunk down into a thick disk that is located on the user's back and can materialize and dematerialize between forms in a similar fashion to Star-Lord's Helmet.
  • Propulsion: Aero-Rigs can propel the user into the air and allow them to seamlessly hover and fly using its rocket thruster. It does not appear to be limited by altitude, allowing a user to fly into space, though they would need proper isolation from it to survive it.
